I’m delighted to announce that Amy Palko, of Clackmannanshire, Scotland, won my Five Financial Goals contest. (Okay, is that the coolest word for a place ever? Maybe Amy will help us out with how to pronounce it and perhaps what the name may mean.)
Amy won because she took a gulp, faced her fears, and committed her goals to paper, then sent them to me. And you know what? Amy was the only one.
Maybe the prize, Write It Down, Make It Happen, wasn’t compelling enough. Maybe I should have given away money! Maybe doing this was too scary for many people. Maybe everyone reading the blog has already done it! Maybe you felt that your financial goals are private and you’re not about to share them with me.
Whatever the case, I want to be clear that I am not a financial planner or professional in that field. So why write about money? Because getting a grip on finances is one of the most empowering things a creative person – anyone – can do. Imagine what you would feel like if you didn’t worry about money. If you didn’t feel shame, or ignorance, or aversion. What impact would that have on your creative life?
I know for me, getting my finances together has been the most empowering thing I have done to date. Kicking my fears and limiting beliefs to the curb has made me feel that I can do anything, in any realm. And it feels goooooood. It’s not like I’m a millionaire or making tons of money. I’m working on that. It’s my perspective about money that’s changed, and you may know that perspective is the secret weapon for a winning life.
I also have a strange compulsion to bring up taboo topics: sex, money. I don’t know why. Maybe I like to add pizzazz to the conversation. In any case, count on me to blog about money and how you, too, can get a financial grip. Like Amy is. Here’s what she said when she submitted her entry: “I've just completed the financial goal exercise you set on Aug 27th. I'm already feeling more positive about my finances so it has definitely been a worthwhile exercise. Thank you!”
Go Amy! And go you, out there, fighting the good fight in your own, unique way.

Thank you so much, Cynthia. I've started reading the book already, and I've also made a start on some of the writing exercises. I have had a truly wonderful, inspiring and productive day today, so I think it may be working already! I have tomorrow to myself in Brighton, so I think I'll find a nice cafe somewhere and pour my heart out onto the page. Thanks again!

You're so very welcome. It is my pleasure and my job to help others. Keep track of all the amazing things you will manifest so you can remember that writing things down actually works to make the life you want!
